[imp] imp stripping subject from message

hello,
i am using imp 4.0CVS and when i send mail to a client using netscape messenger and some instances of outlook express the subject is stripped from the message. is there a quick way to fix this?
i have checked the header.txt file and there are no extra lines in there. i even commented out the one line in the file but it made no difference.
also in imps config i selected not to attach anything in the header.txt and trailer.txt files.
