[imp] CVS-Head various problems (login, compose/send, receiving attachments)

O.K., the frustration threshold has been reached. Been beating on this
since late Thursday, searched the FAQ and
mailing lists, found similar problems, but nothing that matched exactly and
none of the "solutions" I found worked
for me. Anybody have any ideas why I'm having these problems (see below)?

Here's my server config:

Horde, Imp, Turba, Kronolith, Mnemo, and Nag - CVS-Head snapshots as of
1-May-2003
Configured IMP Servers to match my working Horde-RELENG configuration,
with the added fields for IMP4
Configured IMP, Turba, Kronolith, Mnemo, and Nag via Horde Configuration
menu item.
Accounts, Forwards, Passwd, and Vacation have been "installed" but not
configured. They are also disabled (set to inactive) in registry.php.

PHP 4.3.2RC1

WinNT 4.0, SP6a, IIS4

IMail 4.06 (fm IpSwitch)

Workstation Configs:
Win2K, IE6
Win98, IE6 & IE5.5
WinXP, IE6

Problem 1:
I have Horde set to authenticate via IMP, and the login to Horde certainly
appears to be the IMP login, but I still have to login again when I click on
"Mail".

Problem 2:
Opening a message with attachments won't show me or give me access to
attachments. I know the attachments are there because I sent them to
myself, and I can open them from the received message via Outlook and
Outlook Express. I have tried options settings to show attachments in
header, and in both header and body with no luck. I'm pretty sure my server
timeouts, temp files locations, etc. are correct because I composed and sent
the messages via IMP in the first place.

Problem 3 (may be related to Problem 4: below):
Sending a message from the compose window with a large attachment (5MB) and
"save to sent-mail" checked results in the message being sent, but not
saved, and the compose window never "closes" until I eventually get a CGI
Timeout error. PHP upload_max_filesize = 125M. To continue the testing, if
I uncheck the save box, it works fine; if I send a message with no
attachment or a small attachment (1-2KB) and save checked, it works fine.
Initially my PHP timeout was set to 60 seconds. I upped that to the
ridiculously large value of 600 seconds, which only seems to extend the time
until I get a CGI Timeout. IIS Connection Timeout is set to 900 seconds.
IIS Script timeout was 90 seconds, upped that to 600 seconds also. Note
that all of this works fine when using Outlook Express in IMAP mode, so I'm
sure my server can handle it. And Yes, Outlook Express 6 will save to my
IMAP sent-mail folder. There's also nothing relevant showing up in the
horde-log (I have horde debug level set to E_ALL, logging enabled).

Problem 4:
Checking the box to open compose window in a separate window does NOT result
in it opening in a separate window. It is still opening in the Inbox
Browser pane. Related problem, if I send a message from this compose
window, it seems to get sent just fine, but when it "closes" I don't get
returned to the Inbox view, instead I get a totally blank pane and have to
click on the "Mail" link from the Horde Menu to get back to my inbox (or if
it has a large attachment I get the CGI timeout indicated in Problem 3). If
I uncheck the box to open in a separate window, the compose window still
opens in the same pane as the Inbox, but after the "send" it returns
immediately to the Inbox view.
