Hello,
your questions helped a lot. Iconv/mbstring is installed and after switching
on
the utf-8 support the first problem is solved.
But the saving problem still exists.
Here is a piece of the mail source:

Clicking on the save-icon of a file attachment with german umlauts in
the filename, the dialogbox shows only a few cryptic characters. With every
new
attempt it shows different characters.
When I save it by clicking the right mouse button (saving the link
target), I get the right filename, although without the german umlauts. The
A-Umlaut is replaced by an capital A with a tilde on it and the Euro-symbol.
I never received E-Mail in other languages, so I don't know, if there is a
problem too.
In KMail I cannot see the the german umlauts, but saving works.
I'm running Mozilla 1.2.1 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i586; de-AT; rv:1.2.1)
Gecko/20021204). Horde ist running on SuSE 8.2
