Problem could be reduced to a 'single dot on a line', but adding the
following line in horde/config/conf.php helps:

$conf['mailer']['params'] = array('sendmail_args' => '-i');

from man sendmail(postfix)
 -i     When reading a message from standard input, don´t treat a
        line with only a . character as the end of input.


Maybe that's a thing for the faq or at least the help text inside the 
conf.php?
