| Unfortunately, it didn't solve any of my problems....

Turns out it was my mistake after all ( :( ) - it was a result of me
changing the PGP signature code to have MIME_Part determine the best
transfer encoding, and then having the transferEncode() function not
convert the newlines to CRLF as required by RFC 3156.  Thus, any text
message signed that ended up with 7bit encoding was creating wrong
signatures (I didn't catch it because my test messages had 8bit characters
and were being sent via quoted-printable).
