[imp] htmlspecialchars iso-8859-1 error after php upgrade

Hi, all --

We're running IMP 3.1 with Horde 2.1 on our FreeBSD server and just
upgraded from PHP 3.2.3 (or so) to 4.3.4 and now get an error.

At the top of every page IMP now displays

  Warning: htmlspecialchars(): charset `us-ascii' not supported, assuming
  iso-8859-1 in /usr/home/horde-imp-webmail/imp-3.1/lib/MIME/Viewer/text.php
  on line 41

and I'd like for it to stop :-)

How do I need to track down and resolve this?
