[imp] How do I upgrade C-Client

I've been told that some display problems I'm having in IMP are due to my
install using an older version of the "C-Client"

How can I update the C-Client?
Do I have to upgrade the IMAP and POP3 binaries as well?
Do I have to do something special to allow plain text (non encrypted)
authentication?
