[imp] Auth users via POP3

Hello!

i want to auth users to a remote pop3 server with imp3. is this possible?

the reason is, that i have a box running latest versions of horde2/imp3
and so on and want to use imp3 to access remote pop3 and imap servers.
these pop3 and imap servers are very old boxes on which i'm not able to
install horde2/imp3
