[imp] Folder Creation Problems

I'm not quite sure where this needs to be posted to but I'm starting here. 
I have qmail which using vpopmail. I am using IMP which is utilizing my 
courier-imap server. Everything appears to work fine with IMP except for 
folder creation. When I attempt to create a folder I receive the following:

The folder "test" was not created. This is what the server saidInvalid 
mailbox.name.

I'm figuring this is a result of permissions problems or something but my 
vpopmail setup requires that permissions be setup with a certain user & 
group otherwise it fails to work.

Anyone have a setup like this that's working? Or anyone know where I can 
start looking to figure this out?
