[imp] Hide deleted messages not working?

Hi dear developers!

It seems that hiding messages which are marked as deleted but not yet
purged doesn't work.

There is (as far as I looked through all the options) no way to select
this through the web interface (imp preferences), but there is a
variable in imp's prefs.php "delhide" with the description "hide
deleted".

But setting this to 1 doesn't make any change.

Is there any other way to achieve this behavior?
