[imp] Send mails via SMTP not sendmail?

Hi,

I have a problem here with my PHP/sendmail configuration which doesn't
allow to send E-Mails via the sendmail command from my generic IMP
system account. I don't know yet exactly what's going on there, but
something inserts an invalid Return-path address into mails sent via IMP
(latest release, 3.x I think). The system account this subdomain is
running on is 'wms', and e-mails have the 'Return-path:
<wms at mydomain.de>' in them. This address isn't supposed to exist so some
recipient mailservers won't accept this mail.

The only clean way to avoid such problems is to send e-mails via
SMTP-auth, which is the way I actually prefer because it allows sending
with an arbitrary local identity as long as you can authenticate
yourself to exim with a password.

Is IMP ready to use SMTP-auth already? If it is, I'll see how to get it
up and running. I'm a bit out of time right now, so I don't want to look
for something thay may not even exist. An easier way would probably be
to not generate the Return-path line in outgoing mail. But I don't know
if it's from IMP at all...
