First, let me say that I have not been receiving Horde/IMP list traffic 
for the last few days, I assume as a result of the latest worm/virus.  
After I replied to myself (because I saw no responses to the original 
post), I've googled and actually found Chuck's response - thanks, as 
always.  It made me look harder at this one sentence in the INSTALL 
file:

"You should first configure a real authentication backend, and make 
sure to enter a valid user name for the selected backend into the 
administrators list. "

*Now* I understand, after some experimentation ;)  Proposed patch #2, 
against the original ...horde/docs/INSTALL, attached.

And one more small patch for .../imp/docs/INSTALL, attached.
