I did read the Install and I did realize that c-client had nothing to do
with cyrus. However, if I read the README for c-client it says compile, and
invoke imapd pop2d and pop3d.

The imp INSTALL doc mentions nothing about simply extracting the archive,
and configuring php to compile against it, without having to compile or
install c-client in the traditional sense. I finally found this solution
yesterday at groups.google.com which had an archived post to
mailing.www.horde-imp dated back to June of this year. Having this
explained simply and concisely with an example of the ./config statement in
the INSTALL doc would have been very helpful avoiding me wasting a day and
in search engine hell, but I finally got it to work with the following
article.
