Removing a clutter buttons and placing them in a dropdown menu IS a
good idea. It serves many different purposes.

1. It makes the interface cleaner, less buttons and options up front
is less confusing to a new users.
2. Retains all the functionalities everyone wants but not necessarily
use it everyday.
3. It would be a good idea if user has a choice of what buttons/links
to display and what to put in a dropdown list.
