[imp] IMP very slow

I also suffer that problem with Courier.
iostat, vmstat, netstat is quite low and CPU usage is almost idle.

SquirrelMail's preferred configuration for imap server:
imap server that supports sort and thread imap extensions.
Without these extensions you lose in performance.

I doubt IMP does not utilize these extensions.
Does IMP utilize these imap extensions?
