If you accept the fact that all software has bugs (which it does, so 
accept it),
then its simply a personal/organizational question to decide: is the impact of
the bugs critical enough to apply patches for them as they are fixed?  Or do
you live with them until an official release is put forth by the Horde 
team? It comes down to risk analysis (is the risk of XYZ bug worth 
installing a
patch, which may later change, and which makes your source "unclean" in terms
of an official release patching clean over top of it, vs. having the 
bug impact
your users), and a case of change management (careful tracking of the CVS list
and of patch application can yield a system with the latest patches, and
hopefully the most stability, but is not for the faint of heart, or those
lacking attention to detail).

Just my philosophy.  Others certainly may differ :)
