[imp] Slow IMP H3 with some clients

We've got strange performance problems since we migrated from Horde  
2.2.5 / IMP IMP 3.2.5 to Horde 3.0.5 / IMP 4.0.3.

Some users reported bad performance (up to 2 minutes) for login or a  
simple page/mail load since we changed the horde/imp version. They  
reported problems when they are using their home pc to connect. If  
they use another pc, it is fast again, so there must be a problem  
with the client machine and the new horde version.

I did not find any common pattern between the users. They are using  
Firefox or IE:
"Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR

"Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de-DE; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/

The network connections of their clients is OK because they can visit  
other sites on the same server without any delay.
Their Mailboxes (courier maildir) do not have a lot of mails (20  
mails). So there should no performance problem in sorting. Also the  
authentication process should work well, because they can login  
without problems on other clients. We are using Apache and ModSSL but  
we did not change anything in the configuration since we upgraded to  
the new horde version.

Where should I begin my search? What other factors can newly  
influence the performance in Horde / IMP H3?
