[imp] "Thread View" sorting

IMP Community,

I've spent a couple of weeks of spare time trying to setup horde/imp.  I have
most of it working, but I'm having problem with Thread Sorting.  It appears to
be a problem with the imap connection for this option as the service log gives
an ERR for the LOGIN.  Thread view works in other clients I've used but have
yet to find the issue with IMP.

Suggestions for where to look?  No errors in the php or apache logs.
