hello all,
I apreciate the answers. I know those terms are use on the industry. But I dont see that as a reason to propagate something that have a racist origem. It is not from now that on our socity people uses those terms to define what is good/correct or not. The racist idea behind isnt only as the way i read it but the origen of it. Everywhere what is black means bad what is white means good.
Of course I can change it only on riseup where we use it. But I thought the developers of IMP would care to not use such terms. Specially since it is something that is always on topic as someone have said here, maybe it does matter for lots of people. I wrote that email after a request from a friend - who is black - and use IMP but doesnt speak english and asked me to write. He was quite surprise to see such terms, this is part of the fight for a equal society. the use of terms like that as well as many others.
Maybe he was surprise to see it been used in a free software project where the filosofy is diferent from the other softwares developed in the "industry world". Like in spip for instance, where the icon "author" in languagues where they have female and male worlds = autora and autor they use both. This is called "linguagem inclussiva" - not sure how to translate it to english.
Maybe it could be changed to "mistakes" ->as at squirrel mail
- which are used a lot in the world to define what is correct or good and what is wrong or bad - been propagated also at places where the filosofy are quite diferent from the industry world, like at free softwares for instance.
