[imp] virtual inbox as "mailbox to display after login"

I tried to set "virtual inbox" as the "mailbox to display after login"  
under imp/options, with no effect.

Clicking on "save options" does not keep my choice - as imp reverts  
the "mailbox to display after login" to "folder navigator".

Behavious by design, or bug?
