Yeah i found that page. It mentions phpxmlrpc.sourceforge.net as an 
alternative. But I understand that I should use the built-in implementation.

Obviously PHP as distributed by my SUSE 9.0 does not have RPC extension 
built-in. SRPMS and configure --with-xmlrpc seems the way to go.
