Most likely the messages from Gmail/Yahoo are being sent in HTML  
format, so the URLs are linked.  Horde attempts to scan plain text  
messages for URLs, but this scan is not perfect (it won't link words  
like cnn.com for example, but it should link http://cnn.com/ since the  
latter has sufficient context to tell the linking code that it is,  
most likely, a URL).
