Comparing is never wrong. It yields differences and identity.
Sometimes more the former, sometimes more the latter.

I would not want that. Actually, I think signatures are best stripped
from answers if possible at all. They just make for long blocks of
inline blabla. Signatures which are not at the bottom are worse than
top posting.

They are not ignoring you or me, they're just not convinced - and they
even said they won't reject a user-supplied patch. They just won't
implement it for you, for free, now. I can live with that.
