The latest CVS is broken.  A couple of people just started working heavily
on it to extend it a few days ago.

The CVS HEAD is broken.  Use the release candidate, or a week old version,
wait until CVS HEAD is fixed, or help to fix it yourself.  Any of those
should work :)
