Just to confirm that this does indeed happpen with a fresh HEAD CVS of
just a few hours ago, and to add this interesting observation:

1) When I click on "New Event" it does indeed set the displayed end date
   to one year from today.
2) As soon as I change anything in the *start* date (eg AM/PM flag or hour)
   the end date immediate comes back to being this year and not next year!

So the javascript handling the changes to the form fix the incorrect date
that is initially there...
