[kronolith] Fwd: Kronolith Connector?

Hello, all!
I think that we've got some really good ideas here. This is the kind of feedback that I really wanted for my Outlook connector project. My connector has only been tested in the standalone mode. I don't have an Exchange server at home, but I could set one up real quick. So, no, I don't use neither MAPI nor CDO, just good ol' Office Automation Object Model. Now, having said that, I have done research on using MAPI and CDO and I could add those pieces in, but those those two APIs are quite messy. I'm trying to get a site together, so that I can share the design and source code with the open source community. I want this project to be Open Source and want to contribute to Kronolith development as well, by creating a conduit for Outlook.
As far as having Outlook talk directly to MySQL backend, I'm not sure if the idea is all that good. Database schemas are prone to change, plus some people use LDAP backend or MCAL backend and won't have MySQL then.
Kronolith does send e-mails with invitations that Outlook can deal with, but this is only a very limited feature set, and only provides one-way synchronization.
How about using XML-RPC? I would like to use XML-RPC router to talk to Kronolith. My plans also include writing a plug-in for Outlook, which will allow for synchronizing b/w Jabber-based services and Outlook. But, this is beginning to be quite OT, so I'll stop right there. i would still like to know what you think about using XML-RPC as a transport layer?
My biggest issue now is getting the Kronolith API to work correctly. Once I have that done, I will have my first working version of the Connector.
I will do my best to put together a website on all this.
Chuck et al, good job on Kronolith and Horde in general.
Regards,
           Mark.
