[kronolith] database error

Kronolith 2.0.1
php 4.3.10
Apache 2.0.52

Fresh install of php, horde, and Kronolith

built pam_auth.

phpmyadmin shows tables are built fine.
database user horde; permissions fine.

Login fine for users in NIS.

Kronolith gives no errors, however databases are not created (although a message 
states they are )

No events can be created. Kronolith tables remain empty.

One Question. Kronolith auths using pam; do the users need to be added to the 
horde_users table also?

Please advise a course of debugging etc or any other info req'd.
