The only thing that stands out is that the VFS driver in the gollem
backends.php is set to ftp rather than file which *I believe* is used by the
vacation and forward applications.  I am trying to follow the code but I am
still very much a novice with php but making progress :)

BTW I have now got passwd changing via the expect driver working fine over ssh
so just about everything is working beautifully.
