Not at all far fetched, but such a statement wouldn't be a problem. Even
though the explode would split it, it would get imploded back to its
original state later anyway, so no harm is done.

To create problems something like "| program arg1, \xxx, arg2" (where xxx =
$username) is needed... and that's certainly rare. Anyway, I just wanted to
let you know about these things.
