Have you tested it (by hand, or with a pop3 client like Eudora) to make
sure it is working?  Hand testing from the machine running Horde is simple
and effective at resolving many such issues as you show below.

Sounds like your poppassd deamon probably died after starting.  Most likely
it died, but it could have also just closed the connection early, etc.

Most likely it is either a bug in the program, or a configuration issue
somewhere.  But it could very rarely be something else like a firewall,
tcp wrappers, etc.

Testing by hand (telnet to the machine on port 106, and type the needed
commands by hand) is the easiest way to diganose this.
