ldap user auth

Hello,
I have brought this up before but I want to bring it up because I have gotten
everything in place on my end to make this work.  

I am trying to get personal ldap addressbooks to work.  If I 'hard-code' the
authentication information into the sources file, everything works great.  

It would be neat to have it grab the auth information from imp/horde upon
login.  Is this a serious feature or is it pretty hard or impossible to do?
