I guess my point here isn't so much that it should do kerberized login, 
but that it should support authentication methods other than 
non-encrypted plaintext passwords.   I don't know what authentication 
methods the IMSP server does support - later versions use SASL, so it 
should be a bunch.  Mind you, kerberos would be great. Theoretically, 
shouldn't the IMSP library built against c-client should support any 
authentication method supported by c-client?

I don't know.. we held off deploying a SQL based address book for a 
long time in the hope that Turba would support IMSP and that we could 
get our home grown IMSP server to do addressbooks (right now, it's just 
a preferences store for our campus computing sites' mulberry 
preferences).  So, we're not really in a position to use this right 
now.  But if it were available, I think we'd be eager to switch to an 
address book back-end that multiple clients could access.
