[turba] turba shows only blank page

hi list,

I just installed Horde 3.0-RC1 and IMP 4.0-RC1, which works pretty well. Now
I added Turba contact manager (2.0-RC1) and the link to turba shows up in my
left navigation tree. But when I click on it, the right frame just shows an
empty page.
I've commented out all the non relevant sections from sources.php so that
only the $cfgSources['localsql'] section is active. the database table has
been generated with the respective sql script from the turba scripts
directory.
As far as I can see, everything should work, but turba only shows up an
empty page. An important detail of the problem may be that the last html tag
of this  blank page is the opening <body> tag.

The app is running with php 4.3.3, apache 2.0.48 and mysql 4.0.15.

Any idea what the problem could be?
