I am sorry I could not express my problem clearly. Let me try it again:

I have more than 12.000 contacts. Browsing all the contacts is
practically not possible. If you hit the "Browse" button, the httpd of
the server starts using 99.8% of CPU power. Then it just quits after
some processing.

As per one of the previous threads, I was told that export should be
set to false to avoid the problem. I did that. Now there is another
attribute 'browse' in the sources.php. I think now 'browse' attribute
more specifically addresses browsing problem. Currently, I have 'export'
set as true and 'browse' set as false in sources.php. This config
prevents empty searches to get all the contacts (hence avoids locking up
the CPU of server).

So far everything looks fine.

However, I have also some "lists" created by "new list" feature of turba
(small subsets of the existing contacts). These "lists" consist of some
50-100 contacts. Problem starts here. Setting 'browse' to false in
sources.php makes "Browse" button inoperable to avoid locking up the CPU
of the server, but also prevents browsing the short "lists" as well. I
need browsing the "lists".

So, the solution for me looks like
1. Browsing should be possible to view "lists".
2. "Browse" button should be inoperational to avoid listing all the
contacts to avoid server problem.

Currently, I told my colleagues not to use "Browse" button and not to
make any empty searches. Therefore I am looking for a way to disable
"Browse" button while 'browse' in sources.php is true.

I hope my problem is now a bit more clear.

Thanks,
Mufit Eribol
