[turba] Improving turba's addressbook capabilities

I really enjoy using Horde.  I find that the software is efficient and  
well designed.  I wish I could add more fields to the addressbook.   
Someone told me that it is possible to customize turba and horde so  
that the addressbooks can have more fields.  I am a newbie to this  
area.  Can some of you help me learn how to ask this question?  I  
would like to post a note on a bulletin board of a local university to  
hire someone to help me do this but I need to know how to phrase my  
request.

Alternatively, if there is another linux application out there that  
will do what I need but does not need to be installed at the root I  
would be willing to consider that also
