Product: Horde
Version: other
Platform: All Browsers
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Resolution:
Severity: minor
Priority: P3
Component: IMP
Area: BUILD
AssignedTo: chuck@horde.org
ReportedBy: webmail-dev@mit.edu

Summary: Japanese-language emails do not display correctly (IMP 2.3 & 3.0)

Likely related to http://bugs.horde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92
MIT has a number of people who read/send/answer email in Japanese, and IMP is
handling this strangely. Client says "Often a sentence starts with normal words
but with in the same line, changes to strange characters. Though they are
Japanese characters, does not make sense at all. Looks like bytes are shifted. I
used Netscape 4.7 and IE 5.1 on Mac under Mac OS X and I know both programme can
handle Japanese without any problem (I am using them every day). I do not why
this software does not have support though it supports other other two-byte code
such as Korean and Chinese. I hope it will support Japanese in future."
