I have taken a look at the code and from my point of view it is only a
matter of:

1.- Understanding the compose.php and how the pop-up page is created. It can
then be modified to add the selection item that I suggested  in my original
email.

The first version could list all the options. The limitation on the number
of available languages could came in a later stage. It might involve changes
in the options / setup that for sure are not trivial.

2.- Changing spelling.php to use the new language selected in the compose
page.

I guess that it will not take me more than one week (dedication after normal
working hours) to implement a new version.

My problem is that I would like the code to be part of the distribution. In
the case that the idea is to re-write all the spelling code ... I have no
time.
