It happens just for pop3.
This bug was conirmed by Jan Schneider february 9th 2005 on the imp
mailing list :

"Confirmed. The weird thing is that this only happens with POP3. Probably
some incorrectly used strtoupper/lower somewhere. Please file a ticket at
bugs.horde.org. "

I guess the ticket was not filed up at that time.
