Looks like you've nailed it. Theres a problem with IE/PNG's running in 256
color mode (as IE is from this thinclient). I tried it from another machine
running 32-bit color and everything looks fine.

Not all PNG's are affected, and when I convert to jpg or bmp and back they
look fine. Maybe a problem with transparencies?

I guess this could be relegated to be a Microsoft problem, the number of
users it affects is probably small. I've heard IE7 PNG support is flaky.

Although, if theres an easy fix without breaking transparencies theres no
point in waiting for the fix from redmond that never comes.
