[dev] default_identity pref not read

The same seems to happen with the language pref.
If I login with a browser that never saw imp before, I alway get English as the 
selected language, no matter if I leave the select box in the login screen as 
it is (English) or switch it to the wanted language (German).
If I then go to options->language the correct language is pre-selected (German) 
but only after I re-submit this pref the correct language is displayed.
