Also note that this should be possible using the MIME_Viewer
interface (which can translate to any MIME type including 
application/pdf).  It would need a few more hooks into IMP,
but nothing too major.

That should be sufficient. We can make a new branch each time we start the 
release cycle for a new "2nd-level-release" (3.0, 3.2, 3.4 etc), do only 
bugfixing in these branches and release a new 3rd-level-release if we think 
it's time to.
