And here is the first problem: The gettext strings in registry.php will
never get translated because it's always loaded before the preferences and 
can't be reloaded, like I do it with the prefs.php file.

I'm going to inititialize the language before registry.php is loaded so 
that at least the browser setting is respected. Less than perfect!
