Thanks.  I'm sorry you have the problem but it is nice to not be alone;-)
I have gone to extremes to find the problem and haven't been able to.  I 
finally just set display_errors = Off in my php.ini because everything 
works as expected and that clears the screen of errors.  I have given up 
on finding it for now.  It will show up when least expected.
