No good, because that's an 'after the fact' visual clue. You still
have to move your mouse over the label to know what will happen.

Possible solution (that takes a little more space on screen):

'right arrow' means you go to the application, 'down arrow' means
the label behaves like the + sign (and if possible also the icon?)
to the left.
You could of course leave out all the arrows where there is
no overloading of 'click-the-label', leaving only the 'right
arrow' where clicking on the + sign (and the icon?) expands the
menu, and clicking the label shows the app.
Too much coffee?
