Sorry that wasn't it.  I really didn't think so but the fact that I 
lost my left
frame until I fixed the pear issue made it worth a try.

the 'hordeauth' => 'full', in horde/imp/config/servers.php doesn't work 
for you?
  It allows me to use hordeauth, ldap and only login once.  I've never had a
problem with it.
