[horde] login not authenticated

Hi,
I'm using horde on Suse 7.3, using Apache/1.3.19, php-4.2.3, mysql 3.23.42

Login fails with the following errors in  /tmp/horde.log

Nov 02 10:12:33 HORDE [error] [imp] FAILED LOGIN 62.190.243.241 to 
pop.localhost:110[pop3] as horde [on line 270 of 
"/usr/local/httpd/htdocs/horde/imp/lib/IMP.php"]
Nov 02 10:13:59 HORDE [error] [imp] FAILED LOGIN 62.190.243.241 to 
pop.hedge-analytics.co.uk:110[pop3] as horde [on line 270 of 
"/usr/local/httpd/htdocs/horde/imp/lib/IMP.php"]

As you can see I've  changed the server settings in server.php because I read 
elsewhere that this could make a difference. No joy. 

Clearly authentication is failing. It may or may not be related to server.php 
settings, I can't tell. 

Any thoughts?
