That is really strange.  I've never had that problem. 
I assume you have checked the database.  Has the share been created?

The example that I put up for my users shows up as:

I appologize because I'm using postgres on this machine, it had slipped my mind.
The following is a mysqldump from another machine.  It has a group but is
basically the same.
