I think you can set Horde to use IMP authentication, and then
pass the info to horde/imp/redirect.php to log them in transparently.

You should just need to pass it to redirect.php, without other changes.
redirect.php does the verification of the data that was entered by the user
in the login screen. If you use another method to pass the same data to
redirect.php then you can bypass the login screen.
There should be info on doing this kind of thing in the IMP mailing
list archives...

You could write something to do this, but I don't think there is anything
for it in Horde 2.1 / IMP 3.1 other than redirect.php
