[horde] Trying to decide if I should use Horde and Imp

Hello,

I have been looking through your site and news groups and trying to decide
if the Horde Application Framework is what I am looking for. For starters I
should tell you that I am not a programmer. I have programmed in my younger
years and actually did it for a living but still do not consider myself a
coder. I thought I might tell you what I have and what I want to do and
maybe someone here can help me decide if this is the right avenue for me.

I have a home based server with a fixed IP address and domain name. The
server is as follows:

Compaq ProLiant 5500
4 - PIII Xeon 550 Processors
1024 Meg Ram
8 - Hot swap SCSI drives
SMART 3200 RAID Controller
And everything else that goes with it

Operating system is Windows 2000 Advanced Server. I tried for months to get
FreeBSD to work but it never would work on more than one CPU with the RAID,
I could get one or the other to work, never both. Apparently it was a bug
with later versions and so far I haven't heard of it being fixed....

For software I am running the following:
MailEnable 1.71
Apache 2.0.48
PHP 4.3.4 + PEAR
Perl 5.8.0
SQLite 2.8.6
Openssl 0.9.7
MySQL 4.0.16
mod_php 4.3.4
mod_perl 1.99_10
mod_ssl 2.0.48
FileZilla 0.8.5

What I would like is to use Horde and IMP to be able to both manage my
server and have users (the 3 of us) to be able to have access to web mail.
I have read through the documents and have found them incredibly inciteful
as far as the end user is concerned but could not find much in the way of
installation instructions. I there somewhere I could go to find these? I
know that Horde is probably overkill for my situation but I do set up
networks for other companies and primarily use mine for experimantation with
the new software available. I would like to learn it and in the end be able
to support it.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance
for your time.

Chuck Cosby
