[horde] framework

Hi all

That's an issue I already posted few months ago.

I was seeking about a way to use horde framework outside of horde
contest. I mean, something like using just some framework modules in
applications without having to configure it as an horde application.

Checkin out the last horde framework (HEAD) I found out that you further
changed framework developement, but many modules are still bounded with
horde objects and config options.
Are you cleaning out them or they will remain so horde-dependent? I read
you're wondering on release horde framework as a PEAR package, so this
enforce my feeling.

In my opinion, would be fine if horde framework will became independent
from horde: you probably will get much help from pear developers and you
could focalize your work on application improving web interfaces, tools
and features.

Also, I (and maybe other developers who doesn't work on pure-horde
project) will be much interested than the past on givin' you help on
developing new "core" features and widely use it.

This is why I couldn't work on it in the past, since it was so distant
than what I was working on. I like your work -sometime I get inspiration
from- but I can't rewrite all my applications, merging them into horde
framework as it is now, because it takes me much time and I need to
change all my interfaces. I'd prefer to use just some common features
(i.e. authentication or sessionhandler) or special features like SyncML
for specific applications developed in my own environment.

This will give you more feedback -problably in less modules but more
deeply- and maybe more patches/help on framework. Of course, if you need
it...

Just my opinion. BTW, you did great work.

Bye, Alberto.
